About this work
The skiffs are launched for the return journey, 13 June 1597. To the left, the two sick men lie wrapped in blankets on the ice. One skiff is already in the water and manned by one man, while the other is just being launched. Other crew members are bringing supplies. Opposite page 107 in: 'True Account of the Three New, Unheard-of, Strange Voyages Performed by the Dutch and Zeeland Ships in the Years 1594, 1595, and 1596' (1598).
