About this work
Various activities of the crew on an ice floe. In the foreground, the ice floe is breaking into pieces, and the crew members are trying to save the skiff and supplies from the breaking and shifting ice. In the skiff, a sick crew member is wrapped in blankets. Opposite page 120 in: 'True Account of the Three New, Unheard-of, Strange Voyages Performed by the Dutch and Zeeland Ships in the Years 1594, 1595, and 1596' (1598).
