About this work

In the foreground, crew members climb overboard to chop the ice around the ship loose. In the background, the ship is now trapped in ice in Ice Harbor and part of the crew can be seen on land. Opposite page 60 in: 'Warhafftige Relation. Der dreyen newen unerhörten seltzamen Schiffart so die Holländischen und Seeländischen Schiff....Anno 1594, 1595 und 1596 verricht' (1598).
