Ceremony of the laying of the first stone for the railway bridge in Zutphen, performed by King William III on October 22, 1861. The group is under a kind of canopy decorated with garlands and coats of arms, centrally a scaffold with the first stone, to the left of which the king signs a document that is to be built into the first stone. Along the entire width, a row of round poles / masts can be seen, wrapped with garlands, and at a higher level with crossbeams, also with garlands. At the very top are semicircular poles. Together, the poles form a kind of triumphal arch, over which garlands are draped and on which coats of arms and flags are attached.
