About this work
The ceremony of the laying of the first stone for the Zuiderzee Sluices (Oranjesluices) at Schellingwoude, by King William III on 29 April 1870. With this, the IJ was closed off from the Zuiderzee. Centrally, the king in military uniform by the memorial stone. With many guests, to the right the chair for the king on a raised platform.
