About this work

Dish of fire-gilded suassa, with a scalloped, accolade-shaped rim and a raised ring in the center, within which a cup fits. The rim is blackened, with three incised floral motifs and three cartouches (medallions) with relief-carved gilded decorations of branches with flowers and birds. On the bottom, around the raised ring (with weld seam), a blackened band with an incised striped pattern; inside, cut-out gilded relief of branches with leaves, flowers, and little birds. Inside the raised ring, an incised image of an open flower. The underside of the dish is smooth and gilded.
