About this work

Soberly designed flint pistol, probably of Dutch manufacture. The lock has strongly beveled edges; the hammer is pierced. The barrel is unadorned and unmarked. The stock is grooved at the front; the butt is separated from the grip by a band of palm wood and screwed in the middle. The iron furniture consists of a loading cap, a round ramrod case, and a trigger guard with beveled edges, the front of which is screwed to the stock; the ramrod is fitted with an iron cap.
