Flintlock pistol

Part of a pair. The lockplate is engraved with flowering branches and a signature. The barrel is marked at the back with the coat of arms of Utrecht, engraved with the same signature as the lock, and stamped underneath with a mark in the shape of a crowned heart. The stock is carved with scrollwork among other motifs. The iron furniture includes, among other things, an openwork thumbplate of symmetrical scrolls, an openwork screwplate with symmetrical leafy vines around a grotesque mask under the lock bolt, and an unworked butt cap with two plates attached one above the other as the central butt plate; the ramrod is fitted with an iron cap.
