About this work
Part of a pair. The brass lock plate is engraved with military trophies and a signature; the pan is rainproof. The barrel has a brass rib on top engraved with foliage, the head of a monster, a signature, and a crowned oval shield blazoned with three sickles with the open side to the left; the brass side faces at the rear are engraved with acanthus leaves; the tail of the barrel is covered with brass and grooved for a rear sight; the front sight is also of brass; marked at the bottom with IC and a rosette or star. The stock is simply carved with, among other things, foliage.
