Flintlock pistol

Part of a pair. The gilded brass lock plate is engraved with a signature; the cock is of iron, the steel spring blued. The barrel has a round cross-section and a series of octagonal rings at the rear; a rib runs between the breech and the iron front sight; marked at the rear with the coat of arms of Utrecht and at the bottom with a crowned coat of arms. The stock is carved with, among other things, foliage. The gilded brass furniture includes, among other things, a screw plate with openwork leafy tendrils, one ending in a dragon, and a female figure with a short sword on a wagon drawn by a mythical figure, an unadorned thumb plate framed by foliage and a butt cap with facets and a mask on the octagonal butt plate; the ramrod is fitted with a brass cap.
