Flintlock pistol

Part of a pair. The lock has a partly blued cock and a formerly gilded, yellow copper lockplate with raised borders around the cock and the triangular pan; engraved with foliage, a grotesque mask, a snake around the screw and the maker's signature. The barrel is covered with yellow copper on the tail and the cock; a rib runs over the top; engraved with foliage and stamped with GR; fitted with a yellow copper front sight bead. The stock is simply carved. The formerly gilded, yellow copper mount with chased relief decoration consists of two octagonal ramrod pipes, a trigger guard whose S-shaped trigger touches the bow, a symmetrical screw plate of, among other things, leafy tendrils, a crowned, oval tumbler plate framed by acanthus tendrils, which form a loop at the bottom, and a simply decorated buttplate with a scalloped border of acanthus leaves and at the bottom a crossflower; the ramrod is fitted with a cowhorn cap.
