Flintlock pistol

Part of a pair. The lock is unadorned except for a signature and a mark. The barrel is etched on top with arabesques in relief; provided with an inscription and stamped on the left at the rear with the coat of arms of Utrecht; the front sight bead has silver relief decoration in the shape of a grotesque mask. The stock is carved with, among other things, foliage. The furniture is of brass, formerly gilded, with chased ornaments on a granular background, except for the two ramrod pipes, and consists of: on the screw plate on either side of a human figure vines, one of which ends in a dragon's head; an angular trigger guard with acanthus decoration; a thumb plate framed by foliage with a mask at the bottom; the butt cap decorated all around with acanthus vines with a lion's head as the central butt plate; the ramrod is fitted with a gilded brass cap.
