Flintlock pistol

Part of a pair. The tail of the lock plate is stepped; unadorned except for an engraved string of beads under the pan and the signature. The round barrel is flattened on top and widens towards the breech; at the rear a ring with a deep notch for the rear sight extending to the tail of the barrel; iron front sight bead; in contrast to 142-A, 142-B is not stamped underneath with a mark in the shape of a chair under a crown. The stock of black walnut is simply carved. The formerly gilded brass furniture consists of two relief-carved ramrod pipes, the trigger guard, a symmetrical screw plate of leafy vines with chased relief decoration on either side of a mask, a blank, oval thumb plate framed by acanthus vines and with an acanthus leaf at the bottom, and an unadorned butt cap with stepped spurs and an octagonal butt plate with a knob on it; the ramrod is fitted with a cowhorn cap.
