About this work
French military flintlock pistol, Model 1777; the lock plate is engraved on the outside with the maker's name and marked on the inside with G.S. The barrel is stamped on top with a crowned shield marked Y RUSTA. The root burl stock has a curved grip that terminates in a flat, octagonal butt cap. The brass furniture consists of a ramrod tube, a forked trigger guard, and a faceted butt cap at the bottom; no screw plate; the ramrod is wooden.
