Flintlock musket à la Modèle An IX

Flintlock musket or dragoon musket à la Modèle An IX (1800-1801). The lock plate bears an inscription with the factory name and is stamped on the outside with a crowned L and on the inside with a T with the letters NG below. The barrel is stamped on top with B181 and below with a crowned D, a V, and two unidentifiable barrel-smith marks, namely a cross in a circle and a bead. The stock shows little carving. The furniture includes, among other things, three barrel bands, the front and rear of brass, the middle of iron with an iron hinged strap, an iron trigger plate, a brass trigger guard with another hinged strap, and a brass L-shaped screw plate stamped I.C and F; inspection marks are stamped on the middle and rear bands: an H above a flower cup and a D under a star; the steel ramrod is a later addition, as it is too short for this musket.
