About this work

The round, gold (gilded?) breast badge is decorated with four protruding floral motifs on the top, bottom, and two sides; the top one is crowned with a crown, and it bears an inscription in Ge'ez script (loosely translated): 'Blessed art Thou who seest the depths, seated upon the Cherubim'. In the center, separated by a raised gold star, is an enamel depiction in white on blue of God, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. The badge is attached with a safety pin to a short white silk cord, which is fixed to a yellow velvet background.
