About this work
The breast badge has a flower shape with eight large and eight smaller points between them. The medallion shows a gold, white-enamelled elephant facing right with a saddle, standing on a pedestal on a gold background, surrounded by brilliant-cut silver, and encircled by a floral wreath of alternating red and green enamelled points; the reverse shows red letter-like figures in the medallion and is otherwise identical to the obverse. The badge hangs with two wing-like ornaments on a pagoda-like structure (a crown?) topped with an oval filled with snake-like forms.
