About this work

The order insignia is an open white-enamelled Latin cross in gold, with a laurel wreath between the arms, suspended from a royal crown. In the center of the cross, in medallion form, is the round mirror monogram of King George I on a red background, with the inscription in gold on a white background: 'Iskhys moy e agape toy laou' ('The love of the people is my strength'). The insignia is attached to a dark red shoulder sash.
