About this work

Album leaf with nine studio portraits of Javanese dignitaries with their children and wives, and some Chinese. Includes, among others, portraits of: Raden Adipati Tjokrowedono, regent of Tjilatjap, alone and with wife and child; Regent of Probolinggo, Raden Toemenggoeng Soeroadinegoro, with two daughters; Regent of Pekalongan, Raden Adipati Ario Wirjodinegoro, with a child. In the center, two photographs of a group of farmers at a barn in a village. Part of the second green photo album with photographs of Java, formerly owned by pharmacist Specht-Grijp, who returned to the Netherlands from Batavia in 1865.
