About this work
A soldier, full-length, facing right, holding a musket (a specific type of firearm) in his left hand after having fired, the barrel angled upward to prevent accidentally injuring a comrade. In his left hand, besides the matchlock, a burning match. With his right hand, he removes the fork (the musket fork) from under the barrel. This print is part of the series of 43 hand-numbered prints of musketeers in the Wapenhandelinghe.
