About this work
A soldier on guard, full-length, facing right, holding a musket (a specific type of firearm) with his left hand at the fork of the fork (musket fork) on which the barrel rests. In his left hand, besides the fork, he also holds a burning match. With his right hand he grasps this match. This print is part of the series of 43 hand-numbered prints of musketeers in the Wapenhandelinghe.
