About this work
Princess Charlotte standing with a whip tells the seated King George IV that she has lost the toll. On the toll is depicted a seated figure, a Dutchman. On the wall behind the woman a painting with a globe on which a Cupid stands on the ball 'Orange Boven'. Princess Charlotte of England, who was once engaged to the Prince of Orange Willem (later King Willem II). She broke the engagement in May 1814. See pendant.
