About this work

Hat-shaped wooden polychrome plate with a relief representation. Under a pair of spectacles, two gentlemen debate amidst baskets and crates with ownership marks, e.g., 'P I' and 'T K', against a green background. The figure on the right wears a vest and a late 18th/early 19th-century jacket, the figure on the left a kind of habit. The representation is framed by vines with fruits. Winding underneath is the inscription 'In the green spectacles'.
