About this work

Pistol belonging to a pair. Barrel: Steel barrel covered with a brass mantle. The front, round part of the barrel transitions at the lock plate into a pentagonal section. Elongated brass front sight bead. Running along almost the entire length of the barrel at the top is a band that widens towards the rear. On the left side of the lock plate is an impressed mark (G). Engraved line and geometric motifs around the sight bead, on the band at the top of the barrel, on the lock plate, and at the butt. Lock: Battery lock: The flat brass lock plate is bevelled at the top and bottom. The pan is brass and has facets. The cock is flattened on the outside. The top of the frizzen and the front of the striking surface have facets. On the lock plate engraved with line and sawtooth motifs is the signature: A. STREIGNARD. The lock is secured with two screws. Wood: Walnut: carved with stylized leafwork motifs at the rear ramrod holder and behind the butt of the barrel.
