Model of Two Congreve Rockets with Launching Gear

Model of two rockets on a launching device or chair, for placement on a skiff. The rockets themselves consist of a pointed cylinder, of which the point is the bomb and the rear part the rocket motor; on the outside of the cylinder a long stabilising stick is attached. The chair is a ladder-shaped frame with a running ring hung around a mast, which stands on a round base; with a fall over the sheave in the top of the mast the frame is hoisted and lowered for aiming and loading. On each leg of the frame is a beam with a metal chamber and flintlock mounted with a set of brackets. The flintlocks have triggers with holes for a trigger rope. The head of the rocket is placed in the chamber under two brackets. The spark of the flintlock is deflected in the chamber by a plate to reach the back of the rocket.
