About this work
Bronze muzzleloader on a carriage. The barrel has a wide muzzle, the middle section is round, and the rear part is octagonal. The tail is hollow for a wooden ramrod. On either side of the touchhole is a square knob for a touchhole cover. In front of the touchhole is a rhomboid ornament with a aiming knob, and at the muzzle a raised bead with a slit. The trunnions of the carriage are entirely forged around the trunnions of the gun, so the piece cannot be lifted out of the carriage. The bore of the piece is quite rough, suggesting it was cast around a core and not bored. For a shot of 1.5 pounds.
