Half model of a 68-Gun Ship of the Line

Polychromed moulding model (starboard side) of a three-master with some decoration. Thirty-one gunports distributed over three decks; the skin of the two gun decks is closed, the deck of the upper deck is closed; at the level of the lower deck there is a horizontal mould. The stern has a twisted stern, in which the rudder post is indicated. Hollow false keel, stern of two storeys with scalloped upper edge; no quarter gallery. Straight rudder with square rudder head following the heel of the keel below, on which seven rudder positions are indicated. Rising stern, two keelsons and keel interrupted by the ports. Round underwater hull with flat bottom and two bilge lines indicated. Various aspects of this model, such as the emphasis on the turning frame and the interrupted keelsons, suggest that this is a relatively early model.
