About this work

Model of a section of a ship's side with a sloop on two spike davits. The model demonstrates the sloop's fall in the bottom of the sloop, where two hooks are released from the tackle of the davits by means of a lever in the middle. The sloop is a smooth-sided double-banked sloop with a flat transom, peaked round frame, and sheer rising at both ends; it has seven thwarts plus two extra heavy thwarts for the hooks.
