Model of a Gun and Carriage on a Ship Deck

Model of a cannon on a wheeled carriage on a sloping deck with a rail on the low side. The wooden barrel is 26 cm long. The wheeled carriage, narrower at the front than at the rear, consists of two cheeks with four steps and a curved cutout at the bottom, connected by the knee, a breastplate, a crossbeam in the middle, the sole plate, and a beam under the sole plate, and the axle boxes. The setting wedge is missing. The wheels are wooden, and the front wheels are larger than the rear wheels. In the deck, a mechanism is mounted above that hooks under the rear axle box of the wheeled carriage and holds it in place; this mechanism can move back and forth in a cut-out circular segment, thus changing the angle at which the wheeled carriage, once released, will roll down. Where the wheeled carriage meets the rail, the rail is reinforced with a cushion block on the inside.
