Trowel used for laying the first stones of the dry dock, the lock gate and sea lock at Willemsoord and the Merchant's Lock at Nieuwendiep. Silver trowel with palmwood handle. Front inscription: Vice-Admiral Bijl De Vroe laid the first stone here with this on 28 June 1859 at the new dry dock at Willemsoord. With this trowel, now belonging to J. Strootman, on 18 April 1859 by H.R.H. the Prince of Orange the first stone was laid of the new Lock Gate at Willemsoord. On 26 May 1854 with this silver (...) etc. Reverse: On 10 July 1861 the commemorative stone was laid here by Vice-Admiral Bijl De Vroe (...) etc.
