About this work

Sword with fire-gilded hilt. Pommel in the form of a helmet, quillon, quillon. Between the quillon and counter-guard oval ribbed plate. Heart-shaped counter-guard, curled on the back. Inner plate bent. Iron blade etched with trophies and floral motifs. On the ricasso of the outer side of the blade the initials A.S.B.. Ebony checkered grip. From D.C. Andreae, 2nd Lieutenant 4th Company 1st Battalion Miners and Sappers.
