About this work
Epaulette, part of a pair, for a captain of the mobile militia, ca. 1830-1832. The epaulette consists of a tongue of silver galloon. The blade of the epaulette is provided with a more or less oval label on which in ink the text reads: jonkheer Hoeufft. 1830-1832. captain militia 133. Silver fringe hanging from the blade. The undersides are lined with red cloth, on which remainders of paper labels with partially legible text: In the...street....Heiligenweg...van den Broecke...makes and sells all kinds of military ornaments etc. etc. in Amsterdam.
