Shako Model for Non-Commissioned Officers of the 4th Regiment of Dragoons, ca. 1863

Headgear of blue cloth, base of black leather, around the base a wide white galloon - three vertical white strips on the body. At the front, a white fabric loop. At the back, a white fabric loop (for a chin strap). On the front loop, a leather label with no. 186. Blue cloth with ventilation holes. Separate leather flap, black on top and green on the bottom. Leather base. Lining with red paper. Inside front label: P van Eijsden jr. (not clearly legible) z....Ds...Dêpot. On the base, inside, the Dutch coat of arms and text 'Je maintiendrai'. There are ventilation holes in the blue cloth, the pompon is missing.
