Standard of One of the Scottish Regiments

Red, with the coat of arms of the King of England-Hanover in the center, surrounded by the Order of the Garter, supported by a crowned lion facing the viewer and a unicorn with a golden crown around its neck, from which a golden chain hangs (respectively the symbol of England and that of Scotland). Above the shield a helmet with a closed visor, upon which a crown with three pearl-arched bars and a lion couchant (the crest of England). The helmet is surrounded by symmetrical decorative foliage extending above the supporters. Below the shield a symmetrical cartouche, through which a thistle and a rose rise on either side of the shield. Below the cartouche a blue scroll bearing: DIEU ET MON DROIT. In the corners originally a flame directed toward the center, of which only that in the upper bend and in the lower corner on the staff side remain. The reverse side is identical, but the supporters are mirror-imaged.
