About this work

Cup on round, vaulted foot, upon which bunches of shells. Hollow stem with engraved leaves, carrying a chalice-shaped bowl surrounded along the underside by a smooth band: at the bottom sea navigation attributes are depicted, above a relief of a sea battle at a harbor. The lid crowned by a finial, below a wreath of chased acanthus leaves, below three times the same crowned coat of arms (Admiralty of Amsterdam) on crossed anchors and armorial trophies.
