About this work
Saber of a Garde d'Honneur with a brass hilt. Rectangular curved guard. Parrying bar bent downwards. Two rhomboid side bars. Openwork cap with flattened oval knob. Grip of ebony. Engraved with traces of blueing and gilding. On the blade is 'I.S.B.'. The scabbard is of brass and has two loose rings without bands. Worn by Mr. Hannema as a Garde d'Honneur shortly after 1800.
