About this work

Silver medal. Obverse: Theater, in the guise of a young woman whose head is adorned with wings, holding a trumpet in her hand and a theatrical shoe at her foot, seated amidst theatrical props and books by Dutch writers; beside her a genius shows a book; above her head Apollo, seated on a cloud, holds a snake; in the background a winged horse above a mountain within inscription. Reverse: beehive amidst laurel branches, above it ten coats of arms of the regents of the theater, attached with a ribbon to a crowned coat of arms above an inscription.
