About this work
Silver medal. Obverse: illuminated by a radiant all-seeing eye, the Dutch maiden with a spear, shield, and olive branch stands next to an altar, the base of which is decorated with two shields hanging from anchors; on the altar lies a liberty cap on a book with seven seals, around which the Dutch maiden holds her arm; behind her cannon, banners, halberds, and a heart in a laurel wreath on a staff; at her feet lies a water jug of the Scheldt river, which overflows its banks in the background; above it a two-headed eagle in a cloud, with lightning bolts in its claws within an inscription; lower edge: inscription.
