About this work
Bronze medal. Obverse: a jester sitting on a throne in the clouds, holding a staff, within a legend "RIDERE REGNARE EST". Reverse: a shield with a sceptre crowned by a jester's head in a field of bees, surmounted by the three phases of the moon. Above the shield a jester's cap, above that a flag and a fool's cap, flanked by two cornucopias emitting smoke and two monkeys in human dress (coat of arms of the Regiment de la Calotte), within a legend "LUNA DUCE AUSPICE MOMO".
