About this work

The collection contains 116 photographs and 17 photomechanical prints, made by professional photographers. It comprises 57 photographic reproductions of artworks, 43 photographs of Abu Simbel, twenty topographical photographs of Italy, and fourteen Photochrom prints of Constantinople. Seven of the topographical photographs are in an envelope by the photographer Francesco Pineider. Most objects bear the stamp of Van Schendel ('AFE v S') and handwritten notes on the verso. There are also a few sheets with notes and correspondence.
