Photo album with twelve photos of Tonkin (the north of present-day Vietnam) on the occasion of the Hanoi Exposition 1902-1903

Scrapbook with twelve developed gelatin silver prints of the then Tonkin, a French protectorate in the north of present-day Vietnam. The album was made for the Hanoi Exposition, an unofficial world exhibition in Hanoi in 1902-1903. Contrary to what the title suggests, the album contains no photographs of the exhibition. Instead, one sees landscapes, cities and villages, and the inhabitants of Tonkin. The album contains no captions - except for the last photograph - and the photographer is also unknown. The photographs were probably taken by a professional photographer and the album was sold to visitors and travelers.
