About this work

Photo album with 21 leaves containing a total of 105 photographs. The album contains 102 cartes-de-visite and 3 cabinet photographs in rectangular and oval passe-partouts framed by gold lines. Not all passe-partouts in the album are filled. Depicted are portraits of young men, presumably students. On a large part of the photographs a name is written on the back, presumably of the sitter. The name of 11 of the sitters is known, including Arnold Cornelis Maas Geesteranus and Cornelis Hoogendijk. The majority of the photographs were made in Leiden, by the photographers Jan Goedeljee, A. Th. Baert, Antonius Joannes van der Stok and Hendrik Jonker. The remaining photographs were made in other places in the Netherlands. The photographer of 2 photographs is anonymous.
