For most of the photographs, a (surname) is mentioned on the album page, presumably of the sitter. Names are also often mentioned on the verso of the cartes-de-visite, corresponding to the names on the album pages. The sitter is known by name for 11 photographs; in these cases, they are Dutch politicians. The photographs were taken by various, mainly Dutch, photographers. 66 of the 120 portraits were taken by the photographer Schorteldoek from Gorinchem. The photographer of only 2 photographs is anonymous.
