About this work

In the period in which this series originated 'kreupel' was a generic word to describe a physical impairment of the lower body. This series is social satire. A man and a woman, dressed as burghers, walk next to each other. The man walks with crutches and the woman supports herself on one crutch, while holding the sleeve of the man.
