About this work

Impression of a medallion. Depiction of the marriage between Christ and the Church (Ecclesia). Above their heads, the dove of the Holy Spirit and the tetragram as a symbol of God the Father. Ecclesia holds a chalice in her hand, and behind her stand Faith, Hope, and Love. Christ holds the cross in his hand and stands on a skeleton as a sign of his victory over death. In the border inscription, a Bible verse in mirror image from Song of Solomon 8:6.
