About this work

Impression of a medallion. Depiction of the marriage between Christ and the Church (Ecclesia). Above their heads the dove of the Holy Spirit and the tetragram as a symbol of God the Father. Ecclesia holds a chalice in her hand, and behind her stand Faith, Hope, and Charity. Christ holds the cross in his hand and stands on a skeleton as a sign of his victory over death. The border inscription contains a Bible verse from Song of Songs 8:6.
