About this work

Female personification of Geography on a triumphal chariot drawn by lions. Personifications of the continents America, Africa, Asia, and Europe with their attributes, such as a dromedary and an elephant, walk alongside. Notable is the attribute of America: a sloth walks at her feet instead of the more common crocodile or alligator. Small angels in the sky hold a cloth on which the title of the publication appears in a later state.
