About this work

Allegorical figures at a tomb monument decorated with skulls. In front of the monument sits Faith holding a cross. A second veiled woman holds a scepter above which is the All-Seeing Eye. Mercury, god of trade, stands by the coat of arms of Amsterdam, looking at a mourning veiled woman. In the sky, Venus sits on a shell.
