About this work

Allegorical figures at a tomb monument decorated with skulls. In front of the monument sits Faith with a cross in her arms. A second veiled woman holds a sceptre above which the All-Seeing Eye. Mercury as god of trade stands at the arms of Amsterdam and looks at a mourning veiled woman. In the sky Venus sits on a shell.
