About this work
David steals the spear of Saul and his water jug while the king and his subjects lie sleeping in a tent camp. In the background, David shows the spear and the jug to Saul and his retinue to demonstrate that he could have killed Saul but spared his life. The print has a Latin inscription and is part of a series on the story of David and Saul.
